Chestnut Munia

This is a short video of Chestnut Munia (Lonchura atricapilla) that I recorded in Subdistrict Sonder of Minahasa highland, Indonesia. The bird was sitting can be found in most Southeast Asia countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Taiwan.

The adult Chestnut Munia has got black head and belly. His body, chest and wings are chestnut brown. The bill has got triangular shape with gray colour.

The bird eats grain such as rice and corn as well as seeds of grass. Chestnut Munia, Scaly-breasted Munia, Black-faced Munia and Pale-headed Munia, are considered as pest by farmers who grow rice and other agricultural crops.
